...never told in history class

I have always been interested in history, but a lot of times we only hear the "big" stories. The overarching events that influenced our world today. Things like World Wars. The discovery of the New World. Ancient Egypt. Stuff that the powers that be have decided it is important for every student in their coverage to have a basic understanding of.

But what about those little stories? Things that maybe didn't change the course of a major international alliance, but certainly changed the lives of everyone involved? Things that maybe we're still discovering pieces of years, decades, or centuries later and wonder "what was all that about?" Sometimes the story may have been big at the time, but has faded from the memories of all but the most elderly of the locals who "still remember that night" or remember their granddaddies telling them the tale.

All those little stories never told in history class is an attempt to capture those fascinating and true "small" pieces of history. Maybe some are still taught in the region they originated from as part of state or local history courses, but are otherwise relatively unknown outside of that area.
